Dru George has built a successful career working with some of the top Executive Search firms in the country, beginning with the nation's leading retained healthcare search firm, Merritt Hawkins and Associates. Dru quickly ascended to a leadership role in the firm's Southwest region, and in his first year alone was selected as a Top 5 search practitioner from over 100 talented professionals. During his tenure with Merritt Hawkins, Dru was consistently chosen to handle the firm's most difficult and challenging search projects, with an impressive 95% success rate.
Dru was then recruited to join Austin McGregor as a Principal, and was quickly promoted to Partner after his first year, then ultimately Managing Partner. In this role, Dru executed searches at the Vice President through Chief and Board of Director levels, focusing primarily in the venture capital and private equity backed high technology and healthcare arenas. He successfully filled high-level searches from coast to coast in the Software, Services, Telecom/Wireless, and healthcare sectors. Selected venture clients included Sevin Rosen, Morgenthaler Ventures, Leapfrog Ventures, Austin Ventures, Inflection Point Ventures, Egan Managed Capital, JMI Equity, and Sigma Partners.
In his current role with Mackenzie Eason & Associates, LLC, Dru is a Founder and Managing Partner, with a practice that includes the technology, healthcare, and insurance sectors. Dru presently executes searches at the VP, Chief and Board of Directors levels for high-growth startups, mid-market firms and Fortune 500 leaders. In 2010, he also launched a diversity & inclusion practice focused on helping clients with their need to recruit top minority talent. Dru has been instrumental to the success of the firm and in developing the firm’s corporate structure, policies, and processes that have led MEA to become one of the nation's premier boutique Executive Search Firms.
A Texas native, Dru was born and raised in Fort Worth, attending Fort Worth Country Day prep school, and graduating from Texas Tech University with a BS. He is considered an industry expert and has been quoted in leading publications such as The Wall Street Journal and the Dallas Business Journal, providing expert opinion regarding industry trends, and executive level compensation and benefit packages. Dru currently resides in Dallas with his wife and two children. He is actively involved with Good Shepherd Episcopal School and coaching his children’s sports teams.
